Holton, Maine . A passion for commerce helped Hodgdon students outperform their peers in the region and attend the College of Applied Technology.

Timothy "TJ" Fitzpatrick, son of Jason and Pete Fitzpatrick of New Limerick, was recently named Student of the Year in High School and Engineering Education. He's in class of 2022 at Hudson High School.

“TJ is a very excited student and has participated in two CTE programs in District Two in his time,” said Amy London, Regional Director of the College of Applied Technology. "By joining forces in the two regions, TJ has proven to be a true 'naughty brat' who seizes every opportunity that comes his way."

London added that he participated in the Forest Management Operations program, as a junior, and then moved to the Car Accident Program in his final year, where he found his true passion.

Fitzpatrick has earned all available certifications and participated in all of the learning opportunities offered to him during his time with the Auto Coalition program, including earning an OSHA-10 certification, participating in Lift-It Right training, and earning several student-level ASE certifications in the auto - Terrain crash.

In addition, he shows a deep appreciation for applying hands-on work to content learned in class while working in stores in this demanding sales program.

While Fitzpatrick did not take classes at District Two or Hudson High School, he did attend elementary school classes to better prepare for his post-secondary endeavors. He is about to graduate from high school with many requirements for his first year of college.

Fitzpatrick was recognized as a Quarter 2 student in the first quarter of this year and was recently appointed to the National Society of Engineering District 2

"Some of Fitzpatrick's personal qualities that have earned him this award as this year's second regional student are his adaptability and willingness to push himself out of his comfort zone to achieve his goals," said London. "After attending a local college, TJ demonstrated this by changing his plans after high school and traveling across country to participate in the UTI program, which will allow him to reach his career goals more quickly."

Fitzpatrick currently works as a mechanic for Cyr and Sons and hopes to gain the knowledge and certifications for Ford, GM, and other manufacturers that he can bring into the store to deliver work of the highest quality to his customers.
